If The Album Leaf’s latest studio album, A Chorus of Storytellers, which came out on Sub Pop Records in February of 2001, sounds expansive and a little bleak, keep in mind that it was mixed in Iceland by Jimmy LaValle, who started the band as a solo project in 1998 and Birgir Jón "Biggi" Birgisson.

LaValle’s Iceland connection dates back to 2001, when Sigur Rós’ Jón Þór Birgisson asked The Album Leaf to open a bunch of the band’s U.S. shows.
